  1. Dear dispenser1,

    I prefer the following quote –

    John 4:42 King James Version (KJV)

    42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

    I believe we should love God and each other, as best we can.

    Peace and love to all,

  2. I often fear that the attempts of the modern church to make the Gospel socially acceptable or merely an attempt to avoid sacrifice. The Gospel is inherently offensive. Nobody wants to hear that their best efforts are as filthy rags to God.

    Are we willing to spread this message as it is and take the backlash on the chin in the name of Jesus?

  3. Hi Brandon!

    You are right, but then there are parts of the gospel that are unpalatable to most thinking Christians. I know a couple with four children, The wife is the head of the household, without doubt, in every sense. The husband is the main child rearer and does the housework, shopping etc. They are very happy with this arrangement and it shows that it’s good because their children are happy too.

    They are living in a way that contradicts the gospel scriptures, for instance in Ephesians:

    Ephesians 5:22-25 King James Version (KJV)

    22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

    23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

    24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

    25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    I do not believe that every word in that has been accepted as canonical has been inspired by God and in this instance, I think Paul was endorsing the status quo to gain followers. It would have been more appropriate to write, “Husbands and wives, love one another………” This would be in the spirit of the two Great Commandments with its emphasis on love of God and our neighbours.

    Peace and love to all,

  4. Yes. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that many Christians do not understand the Gospel either, and would not be so interested if they did. Just the part about loving enemies goes right over most of our heads. We preach it in theory, but failed to practice.
