  1. Dear Rae, I have a question to ask you period I’m no one to come and very often on the things you write period however I do like the photos you post especially inspirational ones leading to God. My question for you is your blog is titled Rae real as the streets. Can you tell me where real as the streets comes from? Thank you for your time. Have a lovely day

  2. To answer your question. My life is something of a paradox. I strive to do well professionally, academically, and spiritually. I want a good white collar career, live in an upper middle class neighborhood, be active in the Baptist community, and have my daughter go to private school. I guess it’s all to compensate growing up dirt poor, being raised in a trailer park, and having family who is always in and out of jail. So when I left home and got to college, I had to balance where I was from and where I was going. On the surface, i seemed like an overachieving nerd. Underneath, I was battling a drug addiction. When me and my friends would go clubbing, I jokingly gave myself the nickname: Rae “Bout that Life” “Ain’t Never Scared” “Go Hard or Go Home” “Real as the Streets” etc. Then when I created the blog, I saw an episode of Workaholics where Ders was in a wizard costume and he said, “I’m as Real as the Streets.” A nerd with street credibility. It resonated with me lol. Here’s a video of that scene: https://youtu.be/4FysP9uozX4

  3. Wow Rae. What a testimony. You just never know what people have been through.. I commend you for wanting to give the best life possible for your daughter. Be encouraged you doing a wonderful work here. I will be praying for you. I also know what it’s like to be wanting to be involved a lot in the church. A group is a boy wanting to be in the church a lot but for many years I was in and I was out not because I didn’t like the church but because I didn’t know any better and when I did I refused to go and be labeled a hypocrite by the Lord. I think it’s really fantastic what you have done with your life in the now. Please take a moment to read Ephesians chapter 4 and if possible read it in the King James version also read Ephesians chapter 2 and 3 I think it speaks directly to your heart specifically.. keep smiling your smile it’s very pretty. God bless you.
